This Merdeka and Malaysia Day, OPPO  Malaysia has partnered with popular Malaysian pop-rock band Insomniacks to create an original song titled ‘See Wider. Live Bigger’. The collaboration marks this patriotic  season by using the spirit of independence to inspire Malaysian youths to move past others’ expectations to define and create success on their own terms.

Formed in Kuala Lumpur, Insomniacks was thrust into the spotlight with its 2018 single “Pulang,” which charted on Malaysia’s RIM streaming charts for 146 consecutive weeks.  The band has since amassed over 100 million YouTube views and 61 million Spotify streams.

Known for their rock and indie anthems and lyrics that speak directly to younger  Malaysian audiences, Insomniacks bring that same sensibility to “See Wider, Live Bigger.” Its lyrics trace a shift from feeling boxed in by other people’s expectations of what life should look like, to a vision of clarity — choosing to see, and build, one’s own future completely and on one’s own terms. The narrative reflects OPPO’s long-held belief that technology should empower people to see further and dream bigger, echoing the same spirit behind the Reno16 Series’ “See Wider, Live Bigger” philosophy.

Shot entirely on the OPPO Reno16 Series 5G, the exclusive music video begins with the band traversing Kuala Lumpur on the KL-Hop-On-Hop-Off bus, as it tours the city’s most notable landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers and Dataran Merdeka.

Meanwhile, a group of young, restless Malaysians is seen socialising in a café, planning their next adventure, when the Insomniacks bus suddenly pulls up on them. Feeling inspired and excited, they hop on the bus and share a lively ride through the city alongside the band and fellow fans.

The bus ride then gives way to a live performance, where Insomniacks are seen on stage and surrounded by a crowd in a mix of everyday and traditional outfits. What begins as a handful of strangers becomes a room united by music — a fitting close to a song about finding your own direction alongside the people who find theirs with you.
