CelcomDigi Berhad (“CelcomDigi”) today announced the return of its Future Pros Bootcamp for the third year, offering aspiring young Malaysian gamers the chance to earn a spot with one of the world’s top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) teams, Selangor Red Giants (SRG). In collaboration with SRG and the MOONTON Games Student Leader (MSL) Programme, this nationwide initiative aims to uncover the country’s next esports talents and provide a clear pathway from grassroots to the professional stage, including opportunities to train and compete at an international level.
As Malaysia’s first structured grassroots esports development initiative, Future Pros Bootcamp now expands beyond schools into universities and tertiary institutions nationwide. Through Arena CelcomDigi, the company’s platform for sports, gaming, and digital communities, participants will learn directly from professional players, coaches, and industry practitioners. Standout players will undergo high-performance training, with one top talent earning the chance to secure a professional contract to join SRG, competing alongside internationally recognised champions on the global MLBB stage.
Running alongside the programme, CelcomDigi’s Healthy Gaming initiative promotes digital balance, mental well-being, and safe online behaviour, reflecting the company’s belief that long-term success in esports goes beyond in-game performance.
Chan May Ling, CelcomDigi’s Head of Brand and Marketing Services said the programme reflects CelcomDigi’s commitment to creating real opportunities for youths in esports.
“Future Pros is about opening doors for aspiring gamers to move from casual play to competing at the highest level. Through Arena CelcomDigi and our collaboration with SRG and MSL, participants gain meaningful exposure, mentorship and a genuine opportunity to earn a place on a world-class team and represent Malaysia globally. As we continue building tomorrow’s champions, we remain focused on nurturing well-rounded individuals by promoting healthy gaming habits and positive digital behaviour for them to thrive both in esports and beyond.”
Participants will take part in immersive workshops that go beyond gameplay, gaining hands-on exposure to the esports ecosystem, from competitive strategy and high-performance training to content creation, broadcast production, and team operations.
“At SRG, we believe grassroots development is not just about creating champions in-game but shaping individuals who can thrive across the entire esports ecosystem. Our goal is to provide the right platform, guidance, and opportunities for the next generation to grow, both as players and as professionals,” said Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, Chief Executive Officer of Selangor FC.
“Moonton is committed to empowering youth through platforms that support growth, leadership, and self-discovery. Through the Moonton Student Leader (MSL) Programme and initiatives like Future Pros, students can gain hands-on experience, and access to meaningful opportunities. Together with CelcomDigi and SRG, we hope to nurture confident, well-rounded individuals ready to succeed in esports and beyond,” said Jeffery Chan, Game Publishing Lead, Business Development & Campus Marketing.
Complementing these efforts, CelcomDigi’s continued involvement in the MLBB Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) reinforces its commitment to advancing the local esports ecosystem, from campus-level development to the professional competitive stage, while building a more structured, inclusive, and sustainable pathway for aspiring players in Malaysia.
