Xiaomi has officially entered the smart tracking accessory market with the launch of the Xiaomi Tag — a compact Bluetooth tracker designed to help users quickly locate misplaced items like keys, bags, wallets and more.
Lightweight, Durable Design
Weighing just 10 grams and measuring approximately 7.2 mm thick, the Xiaomi Tag is ultra-light and easy to attach to everyday items without adding bulk. Its minimalist design includes a metallic loop that lets you clip it directly to keychains, bags, or luggage without needing a separate case.
Built with durability in mind, the Xiaomi Tag carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, meaning it can withstand splashes and brief immersion in water — ideal for daily carry and unpredictable outdoor conditions.
Cross-Platform Tracking — Works With Both Apple and Google
One of the Xiaomi Tag’s standout features is its cross-platform compatibility. Unlike many other trackers that are limited to a single ecosystem, this device works with both:
Apple Find My: For iPhone and iPad users running iOS/iPadOS 14.5 or later.
Google Find Hub (Find My Device): For Android devices (Android 9 or later).
Users will choose which ecosystem to connect with during setup, and while the tracker cannot operate on both at the same time, this flexibility makes Xiaomi Tag appealing to households that use both Android and iOS devices.
How It Works
The Xiaomi Tag uses Bluetooth 5.4 for basic tracking within close range, and NFC for Lost Mode — allowing finders to tap the tag with a compatible smartphone to display the owner’s contact information if the item is lost and found.
It also includes features such as:
Left-Behind Alerts: Notifies you if you walk away from a tagged item (supported on Apple Find My).
Lost Mode: Lets you mark an item as lost and share contact details to help with recovery.
Encrypted Location Uploads: Location data is encrypted and relayed securely via the respective Find network.
Battery Life & Practical Use
Powering the Xiaomi Tag is a replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery, which Xiaomi says can last up to one year under normal use — meaning you don’t have to worry about frequent charging. This makes it a low-maintenance option for long-term tracking.
Although it lacks Ultra-Wideband (UWB) precision tracking — a feature found in higher-end trackers like Apple AirTags — the Xiaomi Tag makes up for this with simplicity, affordability, and broad compatibility.
Pricing & Availability
The Xiaomi Tag has already been released in the Malaysian market and is sold in a single white colour. Local pricing is as follows:
Single unit: RM 79
4-pack bundle: RM 299
Early promotions have seen discounted prices (e.g., around RM 59 for single units and RM 199 for the 4-pack) on official channels such as Mi.com, Lazada and other authorised Xiaomi retailers
