The home technology that catches my attention is not always the gadget with the longest specification sheet. It is the one that makes an everyday task feel less complicated.

That is what appeals to me about the Shark EvoPower System NEO+. Its biggest attraction is not just the vacuum itself—it is the clever docking station that takes care of what happens after cleaning.

The Docking Station Steals the Show

The Auto-Empty Dock does more than give the vacuum somewhere to stand. Return the NEO+ to its base, and it automatically empties the vacuum’s dustbin and recharges its battery. Shark says the bagless base stores up to 30 days of dust and debris, depending on cleaning frequency, room size and household conditions. 

For me, this is the most compelling part of the package. Finishing the floors should feel like finishing the job, rather than starting another round of dustbin maintenance.

The dock also features HEPA filtration to help contain dust and allergens within its collection system. This filtration applies specifically to the docking station.

At 1.7kg, excluding the dock, the NEO+ has an appealing grab-and-go design. Its Mystic White finish adds a clean, understated look that I would happily pair with a contemporary home interior.

Another thoughtful feature is the Multi-Flex wand, which bends to reach beneath furniture such as sofas and beds. It addresses one of the places I would prioritise during a home clean: those awkward, low spaces that are easy to overlook. 

Smart Sensors That Adapt to the Mess

The tech enthusiast in me particularly appreciates Smart IQ Pro. In stick-vacuum IQ mode, its Dirt Detect and Floor Detect sensors respond to dirt levels and floor type, automatically adjusting suction to suit the cleaning task. 

That is the kind of automation I find genuinely interesting. Rather than adding another setting to think about, it lets the machine handle part of the decision-making.

Thoughtful Details for Everyday Cleaning

The HYBRIDCLEAN brushroll combines soft felt fins for hard floors with bristles for carpets, allowing the same floorhead to work across both surfaces. Anti-Hair Wrap technology uses a built-in comb to remove hair from the brushroll as it rotates, helping reduce tangles. 

The included crevice, upholstery and motorised hand tools also extend its usefulness beyond floors to other areas around the home and car. 

I like this approach: a main appliance that can handle several smaller jobs, rather than needing a separate gadget for each one.

Listed at RM2,299 (RRP price) , with a two-year warranty, the NEO+ presents an attractive combination of everyday convenience and thoughtful technology. 

What makes it stand out to me is the attention given to the whole routine—not just picking up dirt, but reaching awkward spaces and simplifying the finish.
