The launch of the iPhone 17e coincides with Apple’s preparations to celebrate its 50th anniversary, commemorating the company’s founding on 1 April 1976.
According to Apple, the milestone will reflect on how its innovations have transformed the way people connect, create, learn and experience the world.
Over the past five decades, Apple has introduced products that reshaped entire industries, including:
✅ Apple II and Macintosh, which helped popularise personal computing
✅ iPod, which revolutionised digital music
✅ iPhone and iPad, redefining mobile devices
✅ Apple Watch, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, expanding Apple’s ecosystem
✅ Services such as App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay, iCloud and Apple TV+
Apple CEO Tim Cook highlighted the company’s enduring philosophy in a statement.
“Thinking different has always been at the heart of Apple,” said Cook. “This mindset has driven us to create products that help people express themselves, connect with others and build meaningful experiences.”
Cook also expressed appreciation for the global community of employees, developers, creators and customers who have helped shape Apple’s journey over the past half century.
Technology Meets Creativity
Apple emphasised that its innovation philosophy extends beyond technology alone. The company has long championed the idea that breakthroughs occur at the intersection of technology and the liberal arts, combining powerful engineering with human-centred design.
This approach continues to influence Apple’s current initiatives, including:
✅ Development of advanced Apple silicon chips
✅ Software and services built with privacy and accessibility in mind
✅ Ongoing efforts in environmental sustainability and community impact
Looking Ahead
While the anniversary marks an opportunity to reflect on the past, Apple says the celebration is equally about the future.
The company plans to continue investing in new technologies and products aimed at enhancing creativity, productivity and everyday experiences around the world.
Interestingly, Apple has also launched a new Instagram page called @helloapple, sparking curiosity among fans about how the company plans to engage audiences during its milestone celebration.
With both a new iPhone model and a historic anniversary, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for the Cupertino-based technology giant.
