PICO, a leading VR brand with independent innovation and R&D creation capabilities, today announced it is now fully compliant with the OpenXR™ standard, allowing developers to run their OpenXR apps on PICO headsets with minimal modification. PICO’s latest SDK release includes several feature updates that fully comply with the OpenXR standard and is compatible with all PICO headsets including PICO Neo 3 Pro/Pro Eye, PICO Neo3 link, PICO 4 and PICO 4 Enterprise.
Developed by the Khronos® Group, OpenXR is a royalty-free open standard designed to simplify VR development by enabling developers to access more platforms while reusing the same code. This means developers can benefit from OpenXR standard to achieve best portability on PICO headsets.
“We are extremely pleased to be fully compliant with the OpenXR standard as it will give PICO consumer and enterprise users access to a wider array of apps to improve their overall experience with our suite of consumer and enterprise headsets,” said Henry Zhou, President of PICO. “This is an important step for PICO as we continue to enhance our headsets and the apps our PICO users are able to access through them.”
PICO introduced the lightweight all-in-one PICO 4 consumer headset in September of last year, a next-generation, all-in-one VR headset that aims to make VR accessible to everyone by combining comfort and performance. The PICO 4 is equipped with the Qualcomm® Snapdragon XR2 chipset, Pancake Optics, 4K+ resolution display, and an intuitive user experience. Pioneering the next generation of VR hardware design, the PICO 4 makes the unreal real, with a more vivid, and immersive VR experience. The introduction of the PICO 4 follows the launch of PICO’s first consumer headset, PICO Neo 3 Link, in May of last year.
In October, PICO launched PICO 4 Enterprise, a commercial-grade all-in-one VR headset that features thin high-resolution pancake lenses and a lightweight ergonomic design. Powered for enterprise applications, the PICO 4 Enterprise includes the latest Snapdragon™ XR2 processor, access to PICO’’s Business Suite with an SDK as well as face, hand and eye tracking and a pass-through camera. The PICO 4 Enterprise compliments the company’s existing enterprise headsets, PICO Neo3 Pro and Neo3 Pro Eye, next-generation all-in-one 6DoF Headsets for enterprises. The Neo3 Pro Eye is equipped with deep eye tracking technology that delivers deep user insights, enhanced training, increased business productivity while accelerating innovation in the healthcare industry.
